Sierra Leone qualify for AFCON for the first time since 1996, after they have defeated Benin in the last qualifying match. The match was suspended two times before they select a specific date to take place at General Lansana Conte Stadium in Conakry, Guinea.
Sierra Leone ended their crisis against Benin, breaking a record for the qualification of AFCON 2022 after a very long period.
Sierra Leone's golden period was during the 1990s, qualifying for both the 1994 and 1996 Africa Cup of Nations. However, they were forced to withdraw from the next two editions due to the Sierra Leone Civil War.

Michel Dussuyer’s side needs a draw to guarantee their place in the biennial African football showpiece, while victory for John Keister’s team will send Sierra Leone through.
But the Benin side couldn't make it after they were defeated at General Lansana Conte Stadium in Conakry, Guinea.
