Defender Kevin Wright doubtful for Sierra Leone as injury woes continue

Örebro SK defender injury woes continue, with Kevin Wright doubtful for Sierra Leone June qualifier against Benin.

Sierra Leone must win in the rescheduled contest against Benin for a place in the 33rd edition of the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon 2022.

The Sierra Leone international has been suffering from Achilles tendinitis since March.

Wright, 25, who made his debut with the Sierra Leone national football team in a friendly 2-1 loss to Mauritania on October 9 2020, sustained the injury in their pre-season game against AIK on March 26 at the Behrn Arena.

He has not featured for Orebro in any of their opening seven Allsenvan matches in the new campaign.

The former Chelsea academy graduate treatment will continue in June when Sierra Leone will be preparing to face Benin in the decider for Cameroon 2022.

The former Degerfors player was impressive against Nigeria in matchday three and four of the ongoing qualifier.

The Walthamstow-born penned a three-year deal with the Swedish side in March 2019.
